Canoe trip

July 17th, 2008 · No Comments

The wife spotted a notice for an evening canoe trip, and after work I quickly threw everything together at the last minute. The Woonasquatucket River Watershed Council was sponsoring a group trip at a local pond (actually a section of the Woonasquatucket that has been dammed). It was a lovely journey and I thoroughly enjoyed it. This was my first paddling on a river in years. The kids claimed to have done it only for the ice cream promised at the end.

There’s a few more on Flickr.

According to the clicktools product, I do. Maybe my wife would disagree, though.

Webkinz birthday party

June 28th, 2008 · Comments Off

Son celebrated his sixth birthday with a Webkinz-themed party. We had various activities based on Webkinz games. Kids decorated name necklaces for their own Webkinz. The Wheel of Wow was built by a friend for a block party and repurposed as a Wheel of Wow. Dart balloons became a series of balloons with kinzcash inside that the kids sat on. Wacky Zingos involved hitting a Zingo toy on a tee. Gem hunt involved decorative stones hidden in aluminum foil and hidden in the front yard. These were redeemed for homemade Kinzcash, and at the end of the part, favors were “sold” for Kinzcash. The birthday cake was made in the shape of a Wheel of Wow; it was a 2-layer cake with WOW decorated on the top. More photos in the gallery.

Kinzcash Templates

My contribution was to make the Kinzcash. You can download PDF’s of the files I used to print the kinzcash. The sheets are 10-up so that you can cut 10 bills per sheet. Photocopy them on colored paper, a different color for each denomination. Download one kinzcash bills, five kinzcash bills, and ten kinzcash bills.

Hummingbird

I’m quite excited by the presence of hummingbirds at our feeder. There are at least two individuals, both females. I saw two of them feeding at the same time this evening.
